Directions

Below are directions to some of the MRP's event locations. All directions are originating from downtown Charlotte. You may wish to consult a map before heading to Mountain Island Lake. And please bring your own equipment, paddle safely and party responsibly. See you there!

Directions to Latta Plantation/Mountain Island Lake

>From downtown: Take I-77 North. Exit on 16B, which will put you on Sunset Road traveling west. Turn right on Beatties Ford Road. Follow the brown park signs to Latta/Raptor Center. Once inside the park, pass by the Raptor Center on your left, then look for the large clearing under the power lines. Turn left to follow the road down to the boat access at lakeshore.

Directions to Mecklenburg Aquatic Center
(800 E. 2nd Street, 704.336.3483)

>From the Square (intersection of Trade & Tryon): Take Trade Street east. Turn right on S. McDowell Street. Turn right on E. 2nd Street. The center will be on your left. Park on the left side of the building, facing McDowell, to unload your boat through the side door to the building. (Be sure to pay for your admission in the front lobby after bringing in your gear.)

Sir Edmond Hailey's Pub

>Park Road Shopping Center, at the corner of Park and Woodlawn Road (Great Outdoor Provision Co. and Champs are both in this shopping center). Drive back around behind the Michael's Craft Store and behind the rest of the shopping center. Sir Edmund's has plenty of parking by the door. Alternately, you can find the entrance from the front of shops at Park Road Shopping Center near the Post Office. You'll walk between the shops and down a set of stairs to the entrance of Sir Edmund's.
