Roll practice

Roll practice

Postby Todd Holt » Tue Feb 02, 2010 10:35 am

Where are the places and what are the times for roll practice these days? I know there used to be Thursday night roll practice at Meck aquatic center. Is that still on - are there any other places to practice during these cold months?

Do you need to have your own boat and gear for roll practice. I would really like to learn how to roll atleast decent and would then purchase my own stuff right after so I can actually start. Is this not a good plan? and is there a place that I can learn to roll enexpensively? Thanks, Matt

If you need, I can bring an extra boat tomorrow night. Just so you know, the USNWC has roll clinics for $45, and that includes all the gear you need. Just bring a bathing suit and you're ready. Typically, the MRP roll sessions are just practicing on your own, but feel free to ask for some assistance. The admission is $5, and it is usually from 7:00-8:30 at the MCAC warm pool. Odds are there will be fewer people there because the USNWC just opened their channels again, and most people head there once it gets a bit warmer.

Ian,

Thanks alot for offering to bring an extra boat. Im out of town for work and will be coming back in town Thursday but uncertain if I will make it in time for the session or else I would jump at the chance. If I get in town in time I may come by regardless as I really do want to learn to roll so I can boat in some whitewater but there is a good chance I wont make it in time. Hopefully another session. How long do these roll sessions go on into the spring?

Thanks,

Matt

Last year, I went through May, but by then I was pretty much the only one there.
